R0013706Homemade shea butter lotion is what we are going to talk about today. This guide will show you how to go about making your own shea butter lotions. Feel free to twick it to fit whatever needs you have. Here we go.

Before we begin, lets talk a little bit about shea butter.

What is Shea Butter?

Shea Nut ExtractionShea butter is made from the seeds of the Mangifolia tree, which can only be found in the continent of Africa. And like most other body butters, shea butter stimulates the skin and has the ability to boost moisture levels. This makes it perfect for skin moisturizers and also good for partial sun protection.

How to Make Shea Butter lotion

Now that we have that out of the way, lets talk a little bit about wh you might want to make your own homemade shea butter lotion. One reason could be because it’s cheaper to make your own than buy from the stores. Secondly you get to make yours with a better quality shea butter than most lotions on the market. And it is fun to make and since you’re making it, you know exactly whats in your lotion and can do whatever you want with it.

Homemade Shea Butter Recipe

You will need the following ingredients:

  • Unrefined Natural Shea Butter. (make sure it’s not bleached and it’s chemical free)
  • Honeysuckle Fragrance Oil or Lemon Fragrance Oil (optional)
  • 4 oz of Grapeseed or Almond Oil
  • A Vitamin E Capsule
  • 1 tsp of Cornstarch
  • Some Iced Water
  • 2 Inches of Distilled Water
  1. Put the 2 inches of distilled water into a pot, turn on the stove flame to meduim and place the pot on it. Bring it to simmer. Now take the shea butter and place it in a meduim pyrex or stainless steel bowl. Place it over the pot with the water (Now it should look like its a double boiler.)
  2. Allow the shea butter to melt. After its melted then add the 4 ounces of grapeseed or almond oil. You can choose to mix them both and then add. It’s really your choice but make sure it all equals to 4 ounces.
  3. Now take the tsp of cornstarch and add it to the shea butter. Take the vitamin E capsule and open it, then add the contents into the shea butter as well. Now if you feel like, you can also add a bit of the lemon fragrance or honey suckle, the shoice is yours. Adding fragrance is really optional. Now mix the ingredients together.
  4. Take a big bowl and put in some ice and then add water, make sure the water is heavily iced. Now take away the stainless steel bowl or pyrex from the pot and place it into the iced water. make sure it’s on top of the ice and aviod water leaking into the mixture.
  5. Now, here’s another fun part. Get a mixer (a hand mixer) and blend the ingredients together with the meduim setting of the mixer, pretend you are making whipped cream. The reason for this is because as you blend you are bringing consistency into the butter oil. And as you are blending you will notice the concotion is thickening as it gets cooled down.
  6. After your new concotion looks like it’s whipped cream and some stiff peaks are formed on top of it, then you’re done. Now pick up your bowl or pyrex from the iced out water and transfer into a plastic container for storage. Make sure the container has a tight fitting lid. Keep it refeigirated and it can last for months.

You have just made yourself a homemade shea butter lotion better than what you would buy from a regular store.

Melt Lotion

Melt Lotion for tanning is a great way to get your skin tanned without the complications of standing outside in the sun. This tan lotion gives you an all around tan not the orange tan most lotions give you.

Unlike most other tan lotions that promise you instant results, this lotion works over a week or two. That means that you gradually see results, it won’t happen instantly, so it looks more natural. The smell of this tanning lotion is beautiful, it smells a bit like watermelon.

It does not tingle like some tanners do, it just feels warm as it works. It is made with a silicone base that gives your skin a great feeling. The beauty of it is that this Melt lotion will help you get a dark tan because of the bronzer it contains. It leaves you with a nice glow.

This lotion does not contain any sunscreen, so please don’t try using it as a sunscreen, it will do you no good. But if you’re looking for a goot tanning lotion, then you can’t go wrong with the Designer Skin Melt Tanning Lotion.

Glycerin Recipes And the Benefits Of Vegetable Glycerin

Vegetable Glycerin recipes are usefully today because i has some properties that are usefully to your skin, for example it has antibacterial properties that help keep your pores from clogging which leads to acne and it does this without causing inflammation.

It also helps your skin by retening moisture, and this is very important in having a health skin. We spend a lot of time damamging our skins through the use of make up, cleaners (with synthetiscs and drying agents), hot water and even nature. Vegetable glycerin has some anti-aging properties which helps us in keeping the health moisture our skin needs in place. And that produces a smooth, soft, radiant, silky and younger looking skin.

What is Vegetable Glycerin? It is usually made from vegetable oil, it has a nice aroma, it’s hypoallergenic, it’s water soluble, it’s odorless, colorless (so if you see one that’s blue, RUN :) ), It actually taste good, you can eat it, it feels like a thick syrup. it’s used in alot of cosmetics, shampoos, herbal remedies, soaps, toothpaste and pharmaticeuticals

And now you know the benefits of glycerin, and I would like to add that glycerin recipes are usually simple to make.

Here is a simple Glycerin Recipe:

Take three parts of a simple Aloe Vera Gel

Add one part of vegetable glycerin

And combine them together, mix well and viola you have a brand new hair moisturizer. You can also use it as a facial moisturizer but remember to refrigerate your creation.

Now you can mix vegetable glycerin into a lot of different concotions and make something new everytime, just remember it’s good for your skin and good enough to eat. Till next time remember, it’s your creation, experiment with it.

Making Homemade Fragrance

014/365 011409

Hello Darlings today we are talking about homemade fragrance or also known as homemade perfume. Now, for my frequent readers, you should know by now, that this site is actually about making lotions but once in awhile I choose to sway away from it and talk about making something a little different and today that thing happens to be fragrance.

Now some of you would like to make fragrance for different reasons, some to make money, others just for fun, then there are some of you (me included) who simply don’t feel like giving their hard earned dollars to greedy, greedy perfume corporations and my friends you don’t have to anymore. So today and just for ytoday you’re free to call me, Super Homemade Fragrance Money Queen (I know it’s a long name but don’t hate, that’s what I want to be called today).

The fragrance (perfume) I am showing you how to make is an Orange Blossom fragrance recipe.
Oranges In Hiding

Ingredients:

How to make the fragrance:

Pick some bunch of fresh orange blossoms and make sure you trim the leaves and stems.

Place the piece of cheesecloth into the bowl, make sure every edge of the cloth is hanging over the edges of your bowl.

Pour two cups of orange blossoms to the bottom of the bowl, at this time they should also be on the cheesecloth.

Pour water into the bowl, make sure that the water is enough to cover the flowers, then let the blossoms soak overnight.

So when you wake up the next morning, go over to the cheesecloth, pull the ends together and then tie it into a knot to secure the orange blossoms inside. You can choose to tie it with a string or a rubber-band.

Now take the water and pour it into a cooking pot, and place the orange blossoms which at this time is still wrapped in cheesecloth into the water. Now let the water simmer till you are left with about 1 to 2 teaspoons left.

Now let the fragrance/perfume cool down and then pour it into the small glass bottle (make sure the lid is tight fitting). Then add 3 drops of the glycerin (It will help your fragrance retain its orange blossom scent.)

Now store your brand new homemade perfume in a cool dry place because it will extend it’s shelf life.

And Just for Fun, Here are 3 Simple Tips to Make Sure your Perfume Smell Last a Little Bit Longer (helps in avoiding stinking situations)

Obey

1. When you spray perfume, make sure its sprayed from a distance of 12 inches from yourself, and then walk into it. That helps the distribution of the perfume smell.

2. Spray perfume, right after you get out of the shower, because your pores are still open, the fragrance will stick to you more firmly.

3. Contrary to popular believe, rubbing perfume on your wrist and then rubbing them together does not make the smell last longer, it does the opposite, because rubbing your wrist compresses the smell and the fragrance isn’t given the opportunity to get into your pores and really settle in. So don’t do it.

And now you know how to make one perfume, if you need more detailed tutorials on a lot more fragrances, then check out the book below from Amazon, if you’re serious about making fragrances, then you should get it.

Till next time remember, be different, make something unique.
